Abstract
In measurements of the angular distribution and polarization of neutrons scattered from at neutron energies between 0.2 and 2.2 MeV, resonances are observed to have widths that are larger than the widths usually associated with states of the compound nucleus but are considerably smaller than the widths of single-particle resonances. A phase-shift analysis of these data is shown to be consistent with the interpretation of this intermediate structure in terms of doorway states.
