Abstract
Selective adsorption measurements for He on the Ag(110) surface, yielding five bound states with energies -4.44±0.02, -2.18±0.02, -0.92±0.02, -0.31±0.02, and -0.095±0.015 meV, are reported. These results confirm that both the Hartree-Fock energy and the total energy in the repulsive region of the He-Ag potential are proportional to the unperturbed electron density of the metal and yield experimental values for the proportionality constants. Keywords
