Abstract
A decreased rate of progesterone metabolism was detected in human fetal membranes several weeks preceding normal parturition at term. A 10- to 20-fold decrease in 20.alpha.-hydroxysteroid oxidoreductase activity and a 2- to 6-fold decrease in 5.alpha.-reductase activity were observed in human amnion and chorion laeve after 33 wk gestation. Keywords
