Abstract
The kinetics of isothermal crystallization and morphology of spherulites of nylon 6 nucleated by additives were discussed. Nylon 66, polyethylene terephthalate, and some inorganic phosphor compounds were used as nucleating agents. At crystallization temperatures in the range of 205 to 180°C., crystallization occurs through one‐ or two‐ dimensional growth and heterogeneous nucleation. The rate of crystallization increases by adding nucleating agents, followed by the decrease of the induction period of crystallization. Maximum crystallinity was not always obtained by the additives used for the present study. By adding nucleating agents, the size of spherulites decreases and the distribution becomes homogeneous, independent of the crystallization temperature. Keywords
