Abstract
THE goal of vaccination against poliomyelitis is the production of enduring immunity by a single administration of vaccine. With killed vaccine of the presently available potency this is not possible. With live vaccine there are a number of reports1 2 3 4 5 6 showing conversions for two or three serotypes after a single feeding of trivalent vaccine. It has usually been assumed that such multiple conversions are indicative of multiple infections by the virus types in the vaccine. The extent to which such multiple conversions are due to heterotypic responses to infection by only a single type in the vaccine has not been adequately . . .Keywords
