Abstract
Human vowel sounds were phonated and a probe was inserted which produced an acoustic click generated by a spark gap, and the resulting acoustic end product was recorded on magnetic tape. Three subjects were used. Certain American-English vowels were used. The k-rates for various resonances were measured and resonance band-widths deduced. The data are consistent with direct computations from damping in the vocal tract. Keywords
