Abstract
The problem of the clamped rectangular plate with a uniform load was solved by Hencky in 1913 and independently by Boobnoff in 1914. The former calculated values only for the case of a square plate. In 1937, Wojtaszak, using Hencky’s method, calculated several other cases. In this paper the maximum moments and deflections for all side ratios between 1.0 and 2.0, by intervals of 0.1, are determined following Hencky’s procedure. Growing out of the necessity for solving eight groups of simultaneous equations in twelve unknowns a short cut on the usual trial and error process of solution was developed.
