Abstract
The Directigen FLU-A enzyme immunoassay for the detection of influenza A virus was compared with direct smear and culture in 211 clinical specimens. The FLU-A enzyme immunoassay proved to be a reliable, rapid screen for influenza A from symptomatic patients and was less dependent on technical expertise for interpretation than were direct smears. Keywords
