Estimation of Individual C8 to C10 Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Naphthas and Motor Gasolines by Capillary Gas Chromatography

Abstract
A method for quantitatively analysing C8 to C10 alkylaromatics present in naphtha (FBP ∼ 200) gasolines is proposed by employing a high resolution polyethylene glycol 1540 capillary column. Temperature programming conditions are suggested to resolve all of the alkylaromatics except one typical pair. Use of an internal standard is made for quantitative analysis under PTGC conditions and precision data are reported for a variety of samples: gasolines, virgin and reformed naphtha, etc. Retention indices data for all C6 to C10 aromatics are also included at four temperatures.
