Abstract
Pull-out, prolongation, and bounce blocking patterns were evaluated by presenting films of these patterns of stuttering to a group of 200 subjects who resembled in its composition the census profile of New York City in sex, age, occupational and educational status. Pullout was rated most acceptable, prolongation next, and bounce lowest. A second experiment showed that stutterers and speech clinicians also preferred pullout to the other patterns. Keywords
