The Therapeutic Value of Retinoic Acid (Vitamin A Acid) in Lichen Planus of the Oral Mucous Membrane

Abstract
Eleven patients with hypertrophic and one patient with atrophic lichen planus of the oral mucosa were treated using retinoic acid (vitamin A acid) in different forms of administration. The most satisfactory results have been obtained in asymptomatic cases showing a plaquelike hypertrophic appearance on the buccal mucosa. The possibleside effects of such treatment are mentioned.
