π-Meson Production inp−pCollisions

Abstract

A measurement of the momentum spectra of

π^{+}

and

π^{-}

mesons produced at 0° and 17° in the laboratory in

p - p

collisions is reported. Incoming proton energies of 2.85, 2.4, and 2.0 BeV were investigated. From the

π^{-}

spectra an upper limit is set on the production of a possible

D^{+ + +}

state.
