Abstract
New data (malacology and palynology) of the detailed study of Achenheim (Alsace, Bas-Rhin) confirm the presence of a continuous stratigraphy which is the record of the cyclic climatic evolution during the Upper and the Late Middle Pleistocene. Four loess cycles are separated by partly interglacial pedocomplexes. The vosgian terrasse Formation displaced by an important fault system corresponds to a prior glacial cycle which age is discussed. Taking fauna data into account correlations are proposed between Achenheim and the typical sites of the stratigraphy of loess (Saint-Pierre-les-Elbeuf Formation) and fluviatile terraces of North- Western France. Keywords
