Abstract
Creep deformation caused by crazing is analyzed using an analog of dislocation dynamics. Results are compared with experiments on polycarbonate and poly(vinyl chloride) subjected to the action of kerosene as a crazing agent. Good agreement between the theory and experiment shows the value of the dislocation analog approach. The theoretical craze creep strain is found to be numerically approximated by the commonly used law similar to the Nutting equation, and may provide a physical foundation for this widely used equation formally derived from rate theory. Keywords
