Abstract
The surface order parameter Ss has been determined for various liquid crystals on a number of substrates. Besides, the influence of a magnetic field on the in plane orientation of the liquid crystal has also been studied. Combination of the data of these experiments leads to a model in which the in plane rotation of a wall adherent liquid crystal layer is described as a function of SsKeywords
