Abstract
A novel method for measurement of the saturation magnetostriction constant of metallic glass ribbons is described. The magnetostriction constant is calculated from the change of the effective anisotropy field induced by a tensile stress applied to the ribbon. The determination of the effective anisotropy field makes use of the measurement of the biased transverse susceptibility. The new method is applicable to both high and low magnetostrictive metallic glasses and it is especially appropriate for wider ribbons. Keywords
