Abstract
Adsorption studies were conducted in order to determine the sorptive properties of cyanide metal complexes (Cd, Cu, Fe, Ni, Zn) on goethite (α‐FeOOH). Results indicated that the sorption of the complexes was governed solely by electrostatic considerations; and, because the stability of the complexes is quite high, the extent of adsorption is governed by the solution‐phase speciation of the system. Uncomplexed cyanide exhibited no tendency to adsorb, however, when bonded as part of the higher charged Fe(CN)6 ‐3 and Ni(CN)4 ‐2 complexes, adsorption was substantial in the acidic pH range. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
