Abstract
Binding of ecdysone to a protein fraction of the hemolymph of mature Calliphora larvae has been demonstrated by use of the gelfiltration technique. Binding occurs in vivo after injection of labelled ecdysone as well as in vitro on incubation of either hemolymph or a 100 000 g-supernatant of a homogenate with ecdysone. The protein-ecdysone complex can be fractionated by DEAE- or CM-cellulose chromatography; however, the protein seems to be denatured on prolonged dialysis, so that a measurement of the equilibrium constant was not possible.
