Abstract
Many observations on the reaction between elastase and elastic tissue in-dicate that, in addition to solubilization and secondary degradation in solution, there is a 3d reaction that may be demonstrated by a marked change in elasticity of elastin during early stages of elastolysis. The preliminary reaction is correlated with the other 2 and a possible com-plete mechanism of elastolysis in vitro and at macroscopic level is discussed. Keywords
