Abstract
Three new piperidine derivatives, Nu-1196(dl-alpha-l, 3-dimethyl-4-phenyl-4-propionoxy piperidine HC1), Nu-1779(dl-beta-1,3-dimethyl-4-phenyl-4-propionoxy piperidine HC1), Nu-1932(dl-beta-1-methyl-3-ethyl-4-phenyl-propionoxy piperidine HC1) were studied for analgetic potency in normal human subjects. All may be classified as potent analgetic agents having approx. the potency of morphine. Nu-1196, while being the least potent on a mg. dosage basis, shows the greatest clinical promise, since at comparable analgetic levels its side effects are minimal relative to the other 2 agents and morphine. Keywords
