Abstract
The relative efficiency of utilization of [beta]-carotene, vitamin A alcohol and the natural esters of vitamin A by Holstein heifers was detd., utilizing blood plasma vitamin A concns. as a means of comparison. There was no significant difference in the efficiency of utilization of vitamin A alcohol and natural esters of vitamin A when blood plasma concns. of vitamin A were used as criteria. However, both forms of vitamin A were used more efficiently than [beta]-carotene when fed at a level 100 U.S.P. units per kilo of body wt. per day. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
