The customer and local services: A model for practitioners

Abstract
Customer oriented local services ‐ a public service orientation — is a new fashion, with followers from across the political spectrum. If the fashion is not to fade, however, the concept must be sharpened up and divested of its blandness. Conceptual development can contribute to changes in service practice, but only if academics are sensitive to the needs of practitioners.
