Abstract
Extract Overseas, McIntosh et al. ( 1954 McIntosh, B. M. , Haig, D. A. and Alexander, R. A. 1954. Onderstepoort J. vet. Res., 26: 479–479. [Google Scholar] ), Millar ( 1955 Millar, P. G. 1955. Brit. vet. J., 111: 309–309. [Google Scholar] ), and Kendrick et al. ( 1956 Kendrick, J. W. , McKercher, D. G. and Saito, J. 1956. J. Amer. vet. med. Ass., 128: 357–357. [Google Scholar] ) have recorded isolating viruses which, when introduced into the bovine vagina, produced vaginitis. In addition, Millar showed that his virus caused oedema of the uterus and infertility. In New Zealand, McClure ( 1956 McClure, T. J. 1956. N.Z. vet. J., 4: 62–62. [Taylor & Francis Online] [Google Scholar] ) described a type of infertility in which the development of purulent cervico-vaginal mucus was a feature. This note records the isolation of a virus from herds with this type of breeding problem.
