Abstract
The aerial parts of Austrobaileya scandens C. T. White (Austrobaileyaceae) yielded the known substances β-sitosterol, its D- glucoside, the sesquiterpene, spathulenol, and the lignan, deoxypicropodophyllin. In addition, seven new lignans, austrobailignans-1 to -7, were isolated and their structures, including absolute stereochemistry, elucidated. Two are aryltetralin lactones, two are aryltetralins, two are bis-arylpropanes, and the last is a tetrahydrofuran derivative. A triterpene acid mixture, to be investigated further, was also obtained. Keywords
