Abstract
The use of hypnotherapy in combination with traditional insight-oriented dynamic therapy in the treatment of several schizophrenic patients is described. It is an extension of an earlier presentation of a case study. Following a description of 8 individual patients there is a discussion of some of the preliminary problems encountered in introducing and carrying out hypnosis with schizophrenics. Specific therapy techniques used with the 8 patients are presented. Both the positive results and the difficulties encountered with these techniques are discussed. The several techniques presented include anxiety reduction, ego building, development of insights in trance, free association through hypnotic dreams and imagery shifts. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
