Abstract
Microcauterization in otolaryngology has been developed for use with the otomicroscope. Tissues are treated by heat issuing from scaled-down microprobes. The tissues undergo dehydration, coagulation, and carbonization. Microcauterization allows shrinkage of certain growths or destruction of selected pathological tissues in a bloodless fashion. The procedure reduces unnecessary mechanical manipulations and improves surgical control. Keywords
