Abstract
Favourable effects have been observed concerning the local evolution of the neoplastic processes examined when using dexamethasone (reduction of ascitic fluid in cases of Ehrlich''s tumor; retarded development of neoplastic masses in cases of Walker''s carcino-sarcoma 256, treated in an advanced stage). However no obvious prolongation of survival time has ever been observed in cancerous animals. Tetracycline does not modify the evolution in the cases of experimental neoplasm, nor is it capable of improving the results achieved with dexamethasone, except for a retarding effect upon the local evolution of Walker''s tumor. The virulence of ascitic fluid obtained from mice with cancer-ascites treated with dexamethasone, tetracyclin or a combination of both, appears to remain absolutely unchanged by this treatment.
