Abstract
This is a report on the effectiveness of audiotutorial independent study in the undergraduate physical therapy curriculum. One group of students was taught goniometry in the conventional lecture-demonstration manner, while another group studied goniometry independently, using programmed tape recordings coordinated with thirtyfive- millimeter color slides illustrating goniometry techniques. The groups were then compared on accuracy of measurement, adequacy of clinical technique, written examination scores, and total number of study hours spent on goniometry. The study concluded that the audio-tutorial approach to independent study is an effective method for teaching goniometry procedures. Keywords
