TENTORIAL BRANCH OF THE INTERNAL CAROTID ARTERY (ARTERIA TENTORII)

Abstract
1. The arteria tentorii (Bernasconi and Cassinari's artery) was visualized by carotid angiography in 3 cases of brain tumors, 2 with tentorial meningiomas and the other with a temporo-occipital basal glioblastoma multiforme. 2. The available literature is reviewed and the anatomic studies in the monkey are described briefly. 3. In the majority of the cases reported, the arteria tentorii was associated with tentorial meningioma; but visualization of the artery is by no means pathognomonic of tentorial meningiomas. It only indicates the site and the rich vascularization of the lesion.
