Abstract
There is described a simple, rapid and inexpensive method for the prepn. of a pancreatic digest of meat to serve as a bacteriological medium. The meat is only partially digested and results in a medium containing proteoses, polypeptides, tryptones and amino acids in amts. slightly greater than are found in a good infusion broth. It supports excellent growth of Brucella, gonococci, and other fastidious organisms. It may be used as a base for making agar and semi-solid media.
