Abstract
A method is described for recording and visually displaying the sounds produced during normal human deglutition. The spectrographic time and frequency display of deglutitory sound energy has a characteristic pattern. This pattern is described and compared with those associated with cough, respiration, and vocalization. With this method, the sonic correlates of human deglutition are easily recognized and distinguished from those of the other activities studied. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
