Abstract
Infrared spectra of tetramethylsilane, hexamethylsiloxane, and several siloxanes with a different number of substituted ethyl groups have been studied in a wave number interval from 690 to 1400 cm−1. The spectra of methylated compounds have been obtained in gaseous, liquid, and solid phases, and splitting of some of the bands on transition from liquid to solid state has been observed. The strong infrared band observed at approximately 1075 cm−1 in the spectra of dimeric siloxanes is classified as a bond‐stretching vibration of the oxygen bound to two silicons. Keywords
