Abstract
Alpha-hemolytic streptococci were found in 75%, beta-hemolytic streptococci in 25%, gamma streptococci in 15%, Staphylococcus aureus in 21%, S. albus in 23%, and Escherichia coli in 6% of the 268 cases of chronic tonsillitis studied. In the cases also characterized by chronic polyarthritis, alpha-hemolytic streptococci were very commonly present. Keywords
