Abstract
Layout and presentation of road maps of Tasmania closely follows that used for maps of the other Australian States but advantage is not taken of the large scales to increase the information content of the maps. Greater use of symbols and a return to the use of map notes is advocated as a first step, and the possibilities of revised formats and road classifications are discussed, along with the use of type as a symbol to indicate historic sites and availability of facilities.
