The Human Care Perspective in Nursing Administration

Abstract
Current environmental and economic forces in health care delivery systems have dramatically influenced the practice of nursing administration. The concept of human care is presented as a basis for nursing leadership and management. Philosophical trends that impact the role of the nurse administrator are explored, with specific reference to the evolution of the concept of care as a central domain in nursing practice. Nursing administrators are urged to maintain and enhance the human caring values inherent in professional nursing practice.
