Abstract
Philips is preparing the mass production of passive‐ and active‐matrix full‐color polymer OLED displays with ink jet printing. Several major technical challenges had to be solved en route to mass production: First, a reliable and fast full‐color inkjet printing process had to be developed for high‐resolution displays. Second, material lifetimes had to be brought to sufficient levels under real application conditions using inkjet printing. Finally, the necessary mass production equipment had to made available including the accurate stage, the plate handling, and the print heads.
