Abstract
In this paper the problem of decoupling multivariable control systems is treated using the methods of optimal control. It is shown that by introducing the concept of virtual model following the parameters of decoupling gain matrices and dynamic compensators come out from an optimization process that allows one to perform any trade-off between the degree of decoupling, the degree of matching ideal decoupled transfer functions and the control amplitudes neededKeywords
