Abstract
A palaeomagnetic study of material from the lowermost and most fine-grained layers of the Stornoway sediments suggests a late Permian-Triassic age for this formation. This supports recent suggestions that the Stornoway Formation may be an onshore representative of the many deep Mesozoic basins recently discovered in surrounding coastal waters. Keywords
