Abstract
IN 1954 McCuistion and Schoch1 reported the case of a white newborn infant with possible discoid lupus erythematosus. So far as can be determined this is the only previous report of a child born with the clinical and histopathologic signs of lupus erythematosus. Of great interest in this case was the fact that the infant's mother evidenced acute disseminated lupus erythematosus eleven months later. At no time was the infant's L.E.-cell test positive. There have been several references2 3 4 to placental transmission of the L.E. factor in the past few years; the characteristic cells were demonstrated at birth and then disappeared . . .Keywords
