Abstract
This study aimed to provide anthropometric standards for single, live-born Sudanese infants at gestational ages between 36 and 42 weeks in order to identify those in need of special management and to compare the results with those of other countries. Comparison with a Caucasian series has shown only minor significant differences with respect to birth weight and height. It is suggested that, in view of the varying socio-economic differences that exist between and within countries, there is a need for standards to be established for the Sudan. Until appropriate statistics are available for reference in different regions, the Omdurman standards can be adopted as representative of the country. Keywords
