EFFECT OF SOME COMMON ESSENTIAL OILS ON PATHOGENIC FUNGI

Abstract

Five indigenous essential oils were tested for their antifungal activity against 23 test pathogenic fungi. Almost all showed appreciable responses against 18 fungi. The 1:1 combinations of these oils showed remarkable antifungal activity against all the test fungi indicating some synergistic response. The oils are under further study for the formulation of suitable topical antifungal formulations.
