Abstract
The allowed region for the guiding centre of a charged particle gyrating in a magnetic quadrupole field is investigated. The region consists mainly of a thin shell, near the line of force, around which the particle rotates. For very low values of the generalized angular momentum the allowed region exhibits a bulge near the origin. Keywords
