Abstract
Summary: A method of obtaining large numbers of phagocytic mononuclear cells by peritoneal lavage of rats having a subclinical intraperitoneal Mycoplasma infection is described. The levels of a number of hydrolytic enzymes, including the glycoside hydrolases which might be expected to participate in the breakdown of yeast cell walls, have been measured in homogenates of the rat monocytes and human polymorphonuclear leucocytes.Association of a number of hydrolytic enzymes with a granule fraction prepared from polymorphonuclear leucocytes and a similar, but not as complete, association of these enzymes with a particulate fraction from the rat monocytes has been demonstrated. Keywords
