Abstract
The range of nitrogen ions in nickel was measured for energies from 8 to 29 Mev. The rate of energy loss is nearly constant over this range and has a value of 3.7 Mev/(mg ). The average charge of nitrogen ions in nickel was determined as a function of velocity. At a velocity of 1.93× cm/sec (27.3 Mev), the average charge is 6.2.
