Abstract
The specific dynamic effect of a diet high in carbohydrate and containing adequate thiamine is about twice as large as that of a similar diet without thiamine. One mg. of thiamine added to 1 kg. of this diet does not bring about as large an S. D. A. as 10 mg. R. Q. data indicated that the reduced S. D. A. with inadequate thiamine was not due to decreased ability to burn carbohydrate. Keywords
