Inability of electron trapping to stabilize the ion acoustic instability

Abstract
It is shown that electron trapping does not stabilize the ion acoustic instability in an unmagnetized two- or three-dimensional plasma. Specifically, it is shown that for nearly all resonant particles, the correlation time is much less than the trapping time.Keywords
