Abstract
The branching rule given by Fronsdal (1962) for the restriction from G2 to SU(3) is used to obtain the multiplicities of the dominant weights of representations of G2 by means of a recurrence relation having a simple geometric interpretation. The branching multiplicities and weight multiplicities are tabulated for the representations ( mu 1 mu 2) of G2 with 01+ mu 2<or=9.Keywords
