A new Technique for the Fiberendoscopic Passage through the S-type Loop of the Sigmoid Colon

Abstract
A difficult part of coloscopy is the passage of the instrument through the sigmoid colon. Particularly difficulties are encountered in an attempt to advance the flexible coloscope into the descending colon when an S-type loop of the sigmoid colon exists. With the aid of the technique developed by us, this configuration of the sigmoid colon can be passed in a high percentage of the cases. Die Passage des Koloskops durch eine S-förmige Sigmaschlinge ist häufig mit größeren Schwierigkeiten verbunden. Wenn man die Instrumentenspitze bis etwa 5 cm ins Colon descendens vorschiebt, dann die etwas gedrehte Spitze gegen die Kolonwandung preßt und das Instrument vorsichtig unter Röntgenkontrolle zurückzieht, läßt sich das S-förmige Sigma begradigen. Eine Passage in höhere Kolonabschnitte gelingt dann in den meisten Fällen.
