Abstract
Articulation tests were made of both men''s and women''s voices in which speakers uttered various speech sounds and observers recorded the sounds that they heard. The % of called sounds correctly recognized, called the articulation, was obtained. Graphs are given showing the influence of sensation level of speech on articulation both for speech as a whole and for 5 different classes of sounds. In normal speech it was found that the different classes of sounds have different frequencies and different intensity levels. A study was also made of the effect on articulation of various kinds of distortion due to removal of portions of speech frequency range, noise, resonance and reverberation. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
