Optomechanical scheme for the detection of weak impulsive forces

Abstract
It has been recently demonstrated that a mechanical oscillator can be efficiently cooled by means of a feedback loop employing the radiation pressure. Here we show that this cooling scheme and an appropriate nonstationary strategy can be used to improve the signal to noise ratio for the detection of weak impulsive forces.
